FAQ

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

It is the process of optimizing your entire web presence so that it becomes more valuable in the eyes of Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

This in turn leads to you being listed at the top of the search results – right where your potential customers can find you.

Why SEO?

1) SEO has by far the largest long-term ROI (and is therefore the cheapest online marketing channel)

You can pick pretty much any goal for getting new customers – say 100 new customers – and SEO will get you those 100 new customers for less money than any other marketing method.

Once you have a high ranking in the search engines, you don’t have to pay Google or any other platform to list you. People just search and there you are. This means that over time your overall CPA (Cost Per customer Acquisition) keeps on falling, while your ROI (Return On Investment) gets better and better.

2) Organic search results are by far the largest traffic source

According to the digital marketing intelligence platform conductor.com, over 60% of traffic to websites has a search engine as the starting point. If you want more traffic and more potential buyers coming to your website, you want the largest traffic source in the world (search engines) forwarding traffic to you.

3) Your competitors are using SEO to get customers that you could be getting.

It’s highly unlikely that your competitors are getting ahead because of any offline marketing.

People google everything nowadays. Be where your potential customers can find you (literally!). Savvy competitors already are.

What is a Keyword?

Keyword = search query entered into a search engine.

A keyword could thus refer to a single word, or it could refer to several words.

“Red shoes” for example counts as one keyword.

What is Keyword Research?

This is the first stage of any SEO campaign. Here, a large part of the battle is won before the fight.

Amongst other things, selecting keywords for the right balance between monthly search volume and ranking difficulty is crucial.

You don’t want “easy to rank but no searches”, nor do you want “tons of searches but impossible to rank” (although, given enough money, you can rank for nearly any keyword).

What is On-page SEO?

If your site is going to rank for certain keywords, these keywords must appear on your website.

On-page SEO involves writing content for your site with just the right amount of keywords sprinkled in (overdoing this is called ‘keyword stuffing’ and hurts SEO).

On-page SEO also means optimizing your website’s HTML code, as well as implementing some more technical, structural changes to your website.

The purpose of On-page SEO is to make sure that search engines (and users!) have an easy time really knowing what your site is about. That way search engines will be happy to show your site at the top of their search results.

What is Off-page SEO?

Off-page SEO means getting other websites to link to your website.

These website links are called backlinks and search engines like Google basically see backlinks as other sites “voting” for your site. So the more “votes” you get, the more powerful your own site becomes.

Both the quantity and quality of backlinks are very important. Since links tend to be embedded in text, Off-page SEO also involves lots of writing to produce ‘linkable content’ (again taking your keywords into account).

What’s the difference between your SEO packages?

The main difference is how much traffic (and therefore leads and potential buyers) we can drive to your site.

The more keywords we select, the more work is involved, but also the more total traffic we can drive to your site, because your site will show up for a greater number of search queries.

When evaluating whether or not SEO makes sense for your business, we also compare the different packages side by side so you have all the relevant information at a glance.

How does an SEO campaign work? Which steps do you follow?

1) We talk with you to learn about your business.

2) We select keywords and run the numbers for your business. If SEO makes sense for you, and we both think that we make a good fit, we will get started.

3) Campaign setup: In the first two months of working together, we focus on On-page SEO with the explicit goal of making your site more valuable in the eyes of users and search engines when compared to any of your competitors’ sites.

3b) If you have a physical store location, we also set you up as a local business so you show up in Google Maps and local business directories.

4) Tracking setup: We set up call-tracking and Google analytics software so that we can measure exactly how many potential customers we drive to your business.

5) Off-page SEO: Starting in the first month of working together, we also focus on writing linkable content & building out the backlink profile of your site so that you can continue to rank higher. Creating a strong backlink profile that puts you ahead of your competitors takes a lot of work and months to accomplish – but, for your business growth, the effort put in will be well worth the long-term reward!

How long is a typical SEO campaign?

We’ve prepared a short video with more information about how SEO campaigns work. You can check it out at the top of this page.

An even shorter answer is that it depends. We’ll be able to give you a more exact estimate once we have looked at whether or not SEO makes sense for you. If you are already on page 2 of search results and have a strong starting position, it might only take 3 months. In most cases, however, 6-9 months is more realistic – but keep in mind that your business will likely continue to benefit from the campaign for months or even years.

Should I invest in Google Ads or in SEO?

Here too, we have created a video answering this exact question.

You can check it out on our AdWords page here.

How frequently do you prepare reports?

1) We send out an Executive Summary Report with detailed campaign performance results once a month. The report contains, amongst other things, keyword ranking performance results, an analysis of your website traffic, and a comparison of your performance to that of your competitors.

2) Continuous reporting: We have a client dashboard where you can view the real-time progress of your campaign as well as the keyword rankings in an easy-to-read graph.

We know you’re busy, but – your time permitting – we also find it helpful to be in contact with you by phone once or twice a month. This way we can quickly answer any questions, check how things are going, and learn whether we can make any strategic improvements to your SEO campaign.

What if I have any - really any - further questions?

Then we’d love to help! Please don’t hesitate to shoot us a message at happytohelp@jesusa9.sg-host.com or simply schedule a quick phone call here.

What about my main question - Does SEO make sense for my business? Can it profitably help me get more customers?

As we never get tired of saying: we only want satisfied clients. In other words, we want to work with you if, and only if, we can expect you to see a positive return on your marketing investment.

If you win, we win!

So why not contact us, or enter your email address below, so we can run the numbers for you and advise you accordingly?
